‘Tis The Season…

It’s become a bit of a tradition for all the big retailers to make a real song and dance of their Christmas TV ads – there’s obviously the entire back catalogue of John Lewis Christmas ads but there are also more traditional offerings – like ‘Silent Night’ used in the Sainsburys retelling of the remarkable football matches that took place between British and German soldiers in no man’s land in December 1914 – at the height of the First World War.

Helen Warner – Client and Content Manager

My favourite Christmas ad is Lily Allen’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ from the Bear and the Hair John Lewis ad – it gets me feeling festive every time!

Louise Chandler – Presenter

My favourite is the John Lewis advert with the song Golden Slumbers, recorded by Elbow (originally The Beatles).

The heart-warming story includes a youngster making friends with the monster called Moz who lives under his bed. It’s makes me smile to think of the simple things, like imagination, that bring festive magic!

Neil Dow – Business Development Executive

Both John Lewis for me!

Sophie Gellender – Marketing Executive

Again for me, I’m going to say that I think the ultimate champ at Christmas ads has to be John Lewis. Mine is between the snowman, which first has one of my fav “Christmas” songs included and secondly was released around the time I met my partner so it has a special meaning behind it for me. We even went to our local John Lewis store and had a photo with the Snowman in store haha (It’s a terrible picture though, never to be shared…)

The second is an ad that I’ve never forgotten, Buster the boxer, it just makes me so happy to watch every single time and its shows John Lewis yet again making a non festive song associated now with the festive season!
