It’s official – summer is over. It’s goodbye to paddling pools, ice creams and flip-flops and hello to cosy nights in, pumpkin-spiced lattes and winter coats!
As we batten down the hatches against the weather outside, preserve our energy and eat an inordinate amount of mashed potato (does anyone actually eat it in the summer?)
Here are some of the AVC Immedia’s favourite hibernation songs! The songs that make us want to stay under your duvet a little longer with a hot chocolate (or a red wine) until Spring; the songs that give us a big, melodic hug; the songs that brighten up those dark evenings that creep up on us a little faster each night.

Back to Black by Amy Winehouse – it ain’t the happiest song in the world but there’s something in the darkness of the music and lyrics that really resonates when it’s darker outside.

Autumn really starts to give me the cosy vibes sprinkled with a little bit of sunshine before I start to feel a little sad that a cold and wet winter is probably just around the corner. It’s such an under appreciated season!
I can think of a handful of songs that give me the snuggle by the fire vibes with the spiced pumpkin candle going type thing!
Here’s a selection for me:
Hollow Coves – These Memories – I recently stumbled across Hollow Coves after their song ‘Blessings’ went viral on Instagram Reels, and what a gem I’ve found. Perfect to cosy up after a autumn day walking through crunchy leaves!
ODESZA – A Moment Apart – Originally I discovered this song and my love for Odesza back in 2018 whilst dressing the Christmas tree and playing the album on repeat…but I also feel this song really fits the cosy autumn bill!
deadmau5 – Polaris – There’s been many a time I’ve listened to this when on holiday in North Wales with my partner, after a day walking seeing stunning mountains then getting home to start the fire and pop this on whilst prepping some yummy dinner. Perfect.
Polaris – Love letter – I found this song thanks to the Liquicity album Escapism 5 whilst driving around the stunning Snowdonia National Park in North Wales. It feels me with the nostalgia of those memories now and just the chill vibes of the liquid DnB are perfect for an evening where I just want to snuggle into the sofa and switch off my mind a bit!
The 1975 – Chocolate – I used to love listening to The 1975 when they first came on the scene and this is one of those songs that even if the lyrics aren’t cosy, the feel of the song for me is!
Freya Ridings – Unconditional (Live at St Pancreas) – This song usually makes me an emotional wreck, but with happy tears! It’s just such a beautiful piece that would be even better accompanied by a nice hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows on top!
Ross Penney – CEO
Moody Blues – Nights in White Satin
Pink Floyd – Shine on You Crazy Diamond
John Martyn has an autumnal feel – Solid Air
Jeff Buckley – Lilac Wine
Ella Fitzgerald (anything, but especially with Louis Armstrong – Autumn in New York)
Helen Warner – Client and Content Manager
I remember heading off to university in my clapped out Citroen (complete with hole in the roof) and James Taylor’s greatest hits, on cassette, playing the whole way to Bristol. My boyfriend had popped it in my car as a surprise and I listened to it on repeat that whole Autumn. ‘Fire and Rain’ – I never get tired of this song!

I actually quite like autumn, I really like the fashion and the cosiness is lovely 😊
In terms of songs …
Green Day – Wake Me Up When September Ends, a big anthemic sound and appropriate this month!
Earth Wind and Fire – September, a fun disco song that makes you smile!
Taylor Swift – willow, this feels like such an autumn/winter folk song, feels like a big hug
Coldplay – God put a smile on your face, best Coldplay song
