Building on King Foods 20 years of experience as the North-East’s leading privately owned catering food supplier, AVC was appointed to help develop and launch an independent e-commerce website that would provide UK-based customers with the opportunity to buy fresh, luxury Scottish meat and seafood that had previously only been accessible to leading hotels and restaurants. The brief from the client was to create an online destination for food enthusiasts that would offer expert guidance from leading chefs and sommeliers to help bring five star dining into their home.

Our design team worked with the client to develop a brand and visual identity which celebrated the company’s rich history and conveyed their strong Scottish roots. Following a discovery session, the name ‘JK The Home of Fine Food’ was proposed and agreed by the client. The design of the JK site was image-led to showcase the quality of the produce on offer. The brand was designed with luxury in mind and the creation of a sophisticated and paired back style lets the imagery capture the imagination of the visitors. The visual identity features elements of Scottish tartan to promote the source of the produce to a nationwide customer base.

It was important that the customer received a positive, information-led online experience tailored to their preferences. The easy-to-navigate website makes it simple for the customer to explore products that they like with opportunities to learn more about the welfare and source of the produce on offer. This help humanise the site and builds on strong industry connections to leading chefs and sommeliers. Recipe suggestions and wine pairings are offered to inspire and help customers to create show stopping dishes.
